Course description

Did you enjoy English at GCSE level? Have you ever thought where English came from and where it is going? How did we learn to speak?

If any of these questions interest you, you will enjoy this course.

Anyone considering a future in the field of crime & society will find English A Level an excellent addition to their qualifications.

Course content

You will look at how to analyse language and further develop skills using new terminology.

You will also look at the social factors which affect the way we speak and write, including the impact of technology, gender and power relationships.

You will explore the study of english and develop your own views and perspectives.

Entry requirements

  • At least 8 GCSEs including English and Maths
  • An average point score appropriate for your chosen pathway from all your GCSE subjects

Future opportunities

Your English A Level prepares your for careers that require good communication skills and is particularly relevant to careers in criminology or law enforcement.

    • We are the next generation of 6th Form, committed to ensuring all of our students have access to high-quality teaching whilst accessing strong employer links and focused career pathways.

      Career 6 will be based at The Academy Grimsby (TAG). 

      The TAG ethos of understanding the students and enabling them all to grow as individuals will flow into Career 6 and the bespoke stand-alone campus will grow with the sixth form.

      All school leavers will be welcome to apply and will be given a personal interview as part of the admissions process. Aspirational targets will be set as part of that personal discussion to ensure the chosen pathway is right for the student.
