Hairdressing Level 3 Diploma at Knowsley Community College

Course description

This practical based course will improve your knowledge and existing skills in relation to advanced hairdressing techniques. You will focus on developing your skills in a variety of cutting techniques, re-styling, and colour correction. You will be taught how to organise practical demonstrations and implement promotions for a professional salon. This course will also support Health and Safety, Consultation, Financial Planning, along with how to improve and maintain services to clients. You will have an opportunity to participate in fund raising activities, trips, visits and competitions both in and outside of college. Level 3 learners are encouraged to take up placement opportunities in addition to their timetable hours.

Course content

  • Promote additional services or products to customers
  • Providing Hairdressing Consultation Services
  • Creatively cut hair using a combination of techniques
  • Colour Correction

Entry requirements

NVQ 2 or relevant work experience. Aptitude test and interview. English Language GCSE grade C or equivalent e.g. Functional Skills English L2 Maths GCSE at grade D or above Functional Skills Maths at L1 as appropriate to the course

Financial information

A uniform and full hairdressing kit will be required in order to perform practical assessments. Some learners may be required to pay for or contribute towards the cost. A portfolio, dividers and wallets will also be required.

Future opportunities

Once you have completed this qualification you may progress into a variety of careers such as, Hairdresser, Artistic Director, Product Demonstrator, Sales Representative, Colour Technician or Stylist .
