Brickwork Level 3 Diploma at Carlisle College

Course description

The course is designed for existing or returning students who want to attain the highest craft level certificate in the trade of Brickwork. It is designed for those who want to progress into the management of the construction industry and in particular the management of Bricklaying. The course particularly highlights special Brickwork features and fine detailing of the craft at the highest level.

Course content

The course includes the following units:

  • Erect complex masonry structures.
  • Repair and maintain masonry structures.
  • Knowledge of building methods and construction technology.
  • Set out and build curved brickwork.

You will also work towards qualifications in Maths and English.

Entry requirements

L2 skills/craft qualification e.g. NVQ 2 or relevant work experience. You will undertake an aptitude test and interview. English Language GCSE grade C or equivalent e.g. Functional Skills English L2 Maths GCSE at grade D or above Functional Skills Maths at L1 as appropriate.


This course is unit-based with candidates completing portfolio work, unit end tests and practical tasks, and written assignments in order to gain the qualification.

Future opportunities

You can continue your studies onto a Higher Education/ University courses or work-based vocational course if employment is secured.
