Art and Design - BTEC Extended Diploma in Fashion & Textiles (Level 3) at Hopwood Hall College

Course description

This course is for those with a keen interest in both the creative and technical aspects of textiles and fashion.
 
The Level 3 course further develops these skills, combining technical and creative approaches. Students are encouraged to develop their individuality, whilst responding to new challenges with personal interpretations. ‘Live’ briefs introduce all learners to the professional world of design, delving into the commercial and creative industries.
 
During your time on this course, you will be encouraged to develop creative ideas through drawing, illustration, garment making, accessory design and production, printed and embellished textiles, digital photography and manipulation with CAD. You will also have the opportunity to visit places of relevant interest such as The Zhandra Rhodes Fashion & Textile Museum, The Clothes Show, Tate Modern & The Gallery of Costume.

The Level 3 course is designed as a two year study programme but there is an option to undertake a diploma in one year instead. Please ask for more details at your interview.

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs grade C or above to include English and Mathematics OR BTEC Level 2 qualification OR NVQ Level 2 OR VRQ Level 2.

Financial information

No cost for 16-19 year olds.

      By Rail:
      Rochdale train station, with frequent connections to Leeds, Bradford and Manchester, is a ten minute walk from the Rochdale Campus through the town centre. It is also a Metrolink station, Manchester’s light railway system, which links Rochdale with Oldham, Bury and Manchester City Centre.
      By Bus: 
      The Rochdale bus station is approximately 5 minutes walk from the Rochdale campus. There are frequent bus services throughout the borough which terminate in Rochdale.
