BTEC Level 3Subsidiary Diploma in Law at Mangotsfield School

Course description

The course is designed to give students an in-depth
understanding of the English legal System, the people
involved within this and an understanding of the principle
of Liability in both Criminal and Civil Law.
If you are interested in current legal issues and how the
legal system works then you will enjoy studying BTEC
Level 3 Applied Law, during the course you will look at the
work of solicitors, barristers, magistrates and judges.
Along with this you will study Criminal Law, looking at
real life cases in order to see who is criminally liable and
what laws have been broken. You will also study Civil Law
and understand how you can sue someone for negligence.
During year 1 you will undertake three mandatory units
- Unit 1 - Dispute Solving in the Legal System
- Unit 2 - Understanding Law making
- Unit 3 - Aspects of Legal Liability
During year 2 you will undertake a further three units
- Unit 4 - Unlawful Homicide and Police Powers
- Unit 5 - Aspects of Property Offences and Police
- Unit 8 - Aspects of the Law of Tort.
The study of all six units are the equivalent to 1 GCE
A Level grades A* - C.

Entry requirements

5 A* - C including a C grade in English.
