Health & Social Care BTEC Level 3 Diploma at Grantham College

Course description

The BTEC Diploma Health and Social Care Full Level 3 will equip you for a career in the social care sector.

Course content

Subjects covered include: Communication, Equality, diversity and rights, Life span, Nutrition, Personal and Professional development, Sociology and Psychology, Working in the Social Care sector. Additional studies: Food Hygiene Certificate.

You will also be required to attend a vocational placement. You may be required to continue to study English, maths or IT as part of your course. If you want to enter a caring profession this course is designed for you. It covers a wide range of compulsory subjects that are relevant to the Care sector.

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs (Grade C or above) including English Language, or equivalent (e.g. First Diploma in Health & Social Care with a Merit/Distinction profile and English GCSE Grade C).


Assignments, work placement observation/reports. From 2017 this programme will include external assessment and examinations.

Financial information

Full Time Further Education courses are free for those who are under 19 on 31 August of the year they start their course.  Exam resit fees may apply if and when applicable.

Future opportunities

This qualification at Diploma level enables you to enter Health & Social Care work in the sector.

All of the Caring & Early Years Education courses are subject to Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks for which an additional charge is payable This course will be delivered in the first year as a one year Subsidiary Diploma and if relevant grades are met learners will continue onto the Level 3 Diploma in their second year.
