Beauty Therapy Level 2 Diploma at City Skills Centre - Salford City College

Course description

Learning takes place in modern and well-equipped beauty salons. All of our tutors have extensive experience in the beauty industry. You will do hands-on practical work to prepare you for employment.

Course content

Dependent on the level of study, the types of skills you will cover could include:

  • Skin care
  • Nail treatments (manicure and pedicure)
  • Hair removal
  • Eyelash and brow treatments
  • Make-up
  • Body Massage
  • Facial and body electrotherapy treatments
  • Self tanning
  • Reception duties

You will also cover topics relating to health and safety and working within a salon environment.

Students will undertake a work experience placement in a salon or other beauty-related business.


You will be assessed by practical assessments, online exams and assignments. During your studies you will build a portfolio of evidence

Financial information

All full-time courses are free to 16-18 year olds who are an EU citizen.

Future opportunities

Many students gain employment as a beauty therapist in salons, health farms, leisure centres and cruise ships or become self-employed.

Some students choose to undertake further study in areas such as complimentary therapies, stage make-up, spa management and beauty business management.

This course is also available as part of an apprenticeship
