Photography A Level at Chilwell School

Course description

A Level Photography is an alternative to Fine Art by way of using photography to express your creative ideas. You will study photography locally and nationally with visits to galleries and research on the internet. The focus is on creativity but you will also learn a lot of technical information about how to use cameras effectively. You will get the chance to use an SLR camera, although you can use other digital cameras to produce your work. You will experiment with a range of different photographic paper to achieve different photographic results. You will experiment greatly with Adobe Photoshop in order to understand how to manipulate or enhance your photographic creations.

Entry requirements

Additional entry requirements: Students will need a minimum grade C GCSE Art if taken or portfolio.


AS Assessment

  • Unit 1 – Coursework
  • Unit 2 – Externally Set Assignment

A2 Assessment

  • Unit 3 – Personal Investigation
  • Unit 4 – Externally Set Assignment
