Music BTEC Level 3 Diploma at Blatchington Mill School and Sixth Form College

Course description

The Music department has a friendly and focused atmosphere where you can improve existing skills, as well as develop new ones.

 

Course content

The course will include performance on your main instrument, within a thriving theatre as a soloist and part of a group. There are opportunities to join many extra-curricular activities, both leading groups and taking part. You will explore a wide range of listening genres which include: Jazz, Classical, The Beatles, Queen and many others.

Composition coursework will develop your musical skills in a style of your choice and you will extend this knowledge by composing for our extracurricular ensembles. Blatchington Mill School produces 2 musicals each year and you would be encouraged to play as part of the pit band.

Entry requirements

Preferably GCSE Music C or above, Grade 2 - 4 Music Theory (or equivalent level of understanding), Grade 4 or above instrumental standard (official grading not required, however students should be at this standard).

Financial information

You will have access to 3 iMac suites that offer both Garageband and Sibelius 6 to support your composition process.
