Sport BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma at Grantham College

Course description

BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diplomas in Sport Development, Coaching and Fitness are practical, work - related courses. You learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands.

Course content

Students will study the BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Year 1 (1 A-Level) and upon successful completion of this will progress to the BTEC Level 3 Diploma which is equivalent to 2 A-Levels. Subjects covered include:

  • Anatomy & Physiology
  • Physiology of Fitness
  • Practical Team Sport
  • Fitness Testing
  • Fitness Training & Programming
  • Sport Development
  • Assessing risk in sport

As well as these subjects, you will be required to continue to study English & Maths as part of your course, if you have not achieved a grade C or above at GCSE

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs (Grade C or above including Maths or English), or a Merit in a sports related Level 2 Diploma.

Financial information

Full Time Further Education courses are free for those who are under 19 on 31 August of the year they start their course.  Exam resit fees may apply if and when applicable.

Future opportunities

On completion of this course you can go on to work in the sport and leisure industry including coaching and fitness training. There is also an opportunity for progression on to the HNC/HND in Sports Coaching at Grantham College or a degree in a related subject.
