Air Cabin Crew C&G Level 2 Diploma at Northbrook College Sussex

Course description

This well recognised international City & Guilds course is designed for those who wish to pursue a career in the aviation industry as air cabin crew or ground operations.

 

Most teaching takes place at our Broadwater campus but you will also practise skills in our real aircraft cabin at Shoreham Airport.

 

The course also involves a day at the British Airways Training Academy. This is a very exciting day where students will put out fires, evacuate and aircraft and slide down the aircraft slides.

Course content

Units include:

  • Introduction to airline/aviation operations
  • Airline health, safety and security
  • Airline emergency procedures
  • Crew room duties
  • Role of air cabin crew (on board)
  • Preparation for employment as air cabin crew

The programme also includes the following:

  • Hospitality (Food & Beverage Level 2)
  • Food Hygiene Certificate
  • First Aid at Work - Optional
  • Wet drill
  • Smoke and fire evacuation
  • Conversational Spanish


Students are expected to purchase black suits and the Aviation Academy scarf.Full uniform standards must be adhered to at all times, in line with industry standards.

Entry requirements

To start on this course you need:
Either
Four GCSEs at grade D or above (including English) 
or 
a relevant Level 1 qualification with full achievement of appropriate Functional Skills qualifications.

Entry is dependent on successful interview and initial assessment.


Additional Entry Criteria
Min/max height restrictions apply for cabin crew. A good level of personal presentation and communication skills.


Experience Required
No experience is required.

Assessment

The course is assessed by an assignment programme for each unit. Evidence for assessment is varied and reflects industry standards. Students produce a variety of written work, eg reports, information packs and portfolios. Students participate in presentations and role play and these are assessed by both tutors and industry specialists.

Future opportunities

After 1 year you can achieve a Level 2 Diploma in Air Cabin Crew

This means you can seek employment (age 18+) in the airline industry or ground operations, or progress to the Level 3 Travel and Tourism course.


The unit entitled ‘Preparation for Employment as Air Cabin Crew’ will ensure that candidates are fully prepared for Airline selection days. Previous students have been successful in gaining employment with British Airways as cabin crew.
