Course description

In the current economic climate it is essential for young
people to understand the concept of spending and
saving wisely. The Certificate in Finance course provides
students with a thorough understanding of personal
financial planning. Covering aspects of budgeting, the
benefits and limitations of saving and borrowing,
understanding the range of financial products and
services available and making an informed choice of
which one to use in a given real-life scenario.
Students study three units in Year 12 titled:
- Why Money Matters
- Risk and Reward in Personal Finance
- Making Personal Financial Judgements.
A further three units are studied in Year 13 titled:
- Financing the Future
- Financial Services: The Providers Perspective
- Enhancing Financial Capability.

Entry requirements

Five GCSE grade C or above.
