Travel & Tourism Level 3 (Fast Track) Diploma at Heart of Worcestershire College

Course description

Do you wonder what is involved in organising Glastonbury or the London Marathon? Have you ever thought about what it actually takes to co-ordinate other people's holidays? Would you like to have a career in the Hospitality Industry? If so our Travel and Tourism courses could be just the ticket for you. From organising conferences and events to learning how to resolve problems in an emergency situation, this course will help you to develop skills needed to succeed in this fast paced industry. Our first class facilities include a dedicated travel and tourism teaching area which include a mock airline cabin and check in desk. Our supportive, knowledgeable team have extensive industry experience extending over travel retail, overseas resort operation, cabin crew, cruising, conference and event organisation, tourist information centre, adventure tourism and hospitality roles

Our Fast Track Level 3 Diploma will enable you to investigate a wide range if topics designed to add to your knowledge of the industry and assist in your career aspirations. You will have the opportunity to discover: Worldwide Adventure Tourism, Conferencing and Events, Package Holidays, Resolving problems and Emergency in tourism destinations, Foreign exchange, Overseas Representation and much more! You will have the opportunity to participate in a wide range if trips and visits including B.A Cabin Crew training, Virgin Atlantic The Base, London and Overseas visit. You will also have the opportunity to work within our very own Spires Travel Agency

Entry requirements

You will need to have at least grade C in maths & English and have progressed from Travel and Tourism, Level 2. We will invite you to attend an interview to demonstrate your commitment to the course and passion for the travel industry. You will also need to provide a reference from your tutor.

Assessment

You will be assessed through a combination of assignments, practical activities, presentations and on-line multiple-choice tests.

Future opportunities

This 30 week course will provide a spring board for you to get into employment straight away. Here are some examples of where past students have gained positions: 

  • Butlins/ Pontins /Haven as part of the entertainment team 
  • PGL in France and the UKResort Reps and Kiddi Reps overseas for Thomas Cook, TUI, Key Camps to name a few! 
  • Passenger Service Agent in Birmingham Airport
  • Cabin Crew with Monarch, Thomas Cook, British Airways, Easy Jet 
  • Leisure and Business Retail 
  • Travel positions locally Events Co-ordination In coming Tour Operators Hotels overseas and in UK

    • Spires Theatre

      Always dreamed of being on stage? Look no further, our Performing Arts department boasts a professionally equipped theatre in St. Andrews' building with a state-of-the-art computerised lighting system, sound systems and multiple stages and seating positioning, giving you a platform to showcase your talent. As a Performing Arts student you will have the chance to participate in a variety of productions throughout the year. 

      The View

      Feeling peckish? The View is a place for you to grab a coffee, stop for a light snack or sit down for a full meal. It boasts a vast and ever-changing menu of freshly prepared snacks, meals, soups and cakes made by our Chefs and catering students. Looking out over the River Severn, The View is the place in college to meet friends over coffee, relax with a book over cake, or sit down for some enjoyable, wholesome, home-cooked food without any of the effort of cooking or preparing it yourself.

      Starbucks

      Make time for a milky latte and visit our Starbucks counter in The View. We have the only one in Worcester City Centre! So come sit back, warm up and relax with a cappuccino, or even grab a berry frappe to go!

      Nursery

      Our nurseries provide a happy, secure and stimulating place where learning through play is purposeful and fun! Our bright and spacious nurseries offer a wide range of flexible childcare for children aged 3 months to 5 years old. The nurseries are recognised as 'outstanding' by Ofsted who also praised the training received by staff, and the atmosphere that the children enjoy.

      St Dunstan's

      St Dunstan's is a state-of-the-art building dedicated to our creative arts and hair and beauty provision in Worcester. Short-listed for the prestigious AJ Retrofit Awards, this modern building is home to our hair and beauty salon, art and design studios and coffee shop making it the perfect place for students to explore their creative side. Our hair and beauty salon, Fountains is open to members of the public.
