French A level at Park View Community School
Learning a foreign language at AS/A level is about developing high order communication skills.
AS & A level French aims to develop a wide range of linguistic skills through the study of different topic areas relevant to France and French speaking countries such as:
- French popular culture/family relationships
- multicultural society
- contemporary French social issues
- knowledge of French grammar is revised, extended and consolidated during year 12 in particular.
In year 13 the emphasis is placed on developing high quality language in order to access the higher grades at examination.
B grade in French GCSE minimum.
Studying French at AS/A level is not just for prospective teachers or interpreters. The vast majority of A level students go on to study French further, in association with law, economics, engineering, retail management, business studies, and other leisure industry related courses.
Our performance record over several years has now been of the highest order, with the vast majority of students achieving in the range A-C.
