AS and A Level Physics at Wetherby High School

Course description

Physics is the study of the universe on its most fundamental level. It seeks to strip away approximations and assumptions to leave only a pure understanding of the processes that underpin all of nature. Through this approach the true elegance of the universe is unveiled; a small set of rules governing the behavior of matter and energy on scales ranging from that of sub-atomic particles up to that of galactic super-clusters.

This course takes the next intellectual and conceptual steps towards that understanding, building on topics covered in the Physics topics of GCSE Science courses and drawing on Mathematical formalisms to precisely describe a wide range of phenomena.

As the course is of highly mathematical nature students need to be confident mathematicians and it is highly recommended that they study AS-level Mathematics to allow them to access the work in the Physics course
