Media A Level at Camborne Science and International Academy

Course description

This course can follow on from GCSE Media Studies although this is not a pre-requisite for the course: students are also able to opt for it at A-Level without having previously studied media in detail.

There are four units, two assessed in Year 12 and two in Year 13. Two of the units are practical production work, where students work in a variety of different mediums to develop their skills in editing and creating.
There are also two exams for the course (each taken as a June entry). Students are encouraged to study a variety of texts within class and independently to widen their understanding of media.

Students have five lessons a fortnight dedicated to this subject and will be taught by two specialist teachers. Students are encouraged to spend independent time, not only completing their set tasks, but also in exploring different aspects of the media.
