OCR Level 3 Cambridge TEC Introductory Diploma in Health and Social Care at Chesterfield High School
The course is comprised of six units of work, three of which are taught in Year 12 and a further three in Year 13.
The following units are studied during Year 12:
Unit 1 Developing effective communication in health and social care
Unit 4 Development through the life stages
Unit 5 Anatomy and physiology for health and social care
A further three optional units are taught in Year 13.
The course offers a vocational learning style quite different from the more traditional routes. Work can be presented in a variety of ways as opposed to purely written text. Students have the opportunity to work collaboratively through group interaction and teamwork. There are currently no written examinations. An External Moderator visits the school twice a year to confirm assessment decisions.
Entry requirements are Grade C GCSE in English. BTEC Level 2 Health and Social Care at MERIT level is desirable but not essential. Teacher recommendation could allow students on to the course.
