Entry requirements

You need one of the following:
  • Introductory Diploma in Art and Design or other art-related subject
  • A GCSE in an art-related subject at grade D or above.
You should also have a standard of English and maths equivalent to Functional Skills Level 1.
If you are a mature learner, we may be able to take your previous experience in art and design into consideration. Applicants will be interviewed, will undertake an initial assessment in English and maths, and must present a portfolio of current work.

Assessment of practical and written work occurs regularly throughout the course.  Functional Skills or GCSE English and Maths will be assessed through a controlled final exam.

Financial information

You will be required to bring a basic art and design toolkit, based on a list provided at enrolment.  You will also need a journal or notebook at all times throughout the course.

Future opportunities

Further Study
On successful completion of the programme to Merit or Distinction standard – as well as GCSE English to grade C – you can progress to an advanced course such as the Advanced Extended Diploma in Art and Design, via application and portfolio interview.
