Level 3 BTEC National Extended Diploma in Sport (Triple) at Paignton Community Sports Academy
Lessons are usually grouped into 2 hour double sessions, each dedicated to a particular unit. This is a fantastic option for those who love sport and have an interest in sports coaching, leadership, teaching, performing and development in a variety of other sports related areas. Candidates who wish to pursue eventual employment in the sports industry are perfectly suited to a course of this nature. What will I be learning? Students will study a total of 19 units, focussing on different areas of Sport over a period of 2 academic years: Anatomy and Physiology in Sport, The Physiology of Fitness, Fitness Testing, Assessing Risk, Fitness Training, Sports Massage, Practical Individual Sports, Organising Sports Events, Sports Nutrition, Sports Injuries, Instructing Physical Activity, Leadership in Sport, Rules, Regulations and Officiating in Sport, Analysis of Sports Performance, Current Issues in Sport, Sports Development, Exercise, Health and Lifestyle, Sports Coaching and Practical Team Sports. How will I learn/ be assessed? The course has been designed to be a vocational course. The course covers a wide range of units and will allow students the opportunity to develop your skills and broaden your knowledge. The course is 100% assignment based. There are typically 3 assignments per unit. All assignments are graded on a pass, merit or distinction basis. Our teachers try their very best to make sure that the learner’s assessment preferences are met throughout the course. For example, if individual learners prefer to be assessed practically rather than through the production of written reports, every effort will be made to accommodate this.
