Course description

During this course you will study a variety of units:

Course content

We want you to be as passionate about health and social care as we are and we want you to learn, achieve and succeed in your chosen career. This new one year course gives you the opportunity to develop the underpinning knowledge in a variety of health and social care topics. Students who complete this course successfully have the opportunity to progress on to the second year Level 3 course in Health and Social Care.

Entry requirements

To access this course you are required to have:

  • Four or more GCSESs at Grade E or above OR
  • Successful completion of the BTEC Health and Social Care Level 1 Diploma

Assessment

You will be continually assessed throughout the programme using a variety of methods including: 2 externally set examinations, written reports, poster presentations, workbooks and witness testimony activities.

Future opportunities

On successful completion you may choose to progress onto the Level 3 90 credit Diploma in Health and Social Care or enter the world of work as a health and social care practitioner.

    • The Paget Road campus, in Compton to the west of Wolverhampton, provides courses in art and design, business and management, computing and IT, education and teaching, engineering, English, health and social care, journalism, maths, media, motor vehicle, music technology, performing arts, photography and science.

      Also on offer at the site are Pathways programmes for people without any formal qualifications, ESOL courses for speakers of other languages, and short courses for job seekers.

      The campus is also home to CitySixth – the college's dedicated sixth form centre offering A Levels in a range of subjects - and a Higher Education Centre which offers HNCs, HNDs and Foundation Degrees, and also boasts an Engineering Learning Zone also equipped with industry-standard equipment, modern motor vehicle workshops, new performing and recording studios, and well equipped science labs.

      The site has a Student Hub, Study Hub, cafeteria and large free student car park and is on major bus routes.
