Advanced Subsidiary GCE in ICT at Cockermouth School

Course description

AS Units. Units assessed at  AS Levels are Information, Systems and Applications. Topics covered in this unit are: data, information, knowledge and processing, software and hardware, components of an information system, characteristics of standard application software, and application areas.

Entry requirements

5 GCSE's A*-C including a Grade A in ICT or Distinction in the core OCR Nationals course.

Assessment

At AS level the Information, Systems and Applications unit is assessed via written examination - 30%. Structures ICT tasks is assessed on course work - 20%. At A2 level, ICT systems, Applications and Implications is assessed via written examination - 30%. ICT project is assessed on course work - 20%.

Future opportunities

Many careers now require good ICT skills. In particular it will develop your E-commerce skills preparing you for a career in the business world. It will also prepare you for further study at University.
