Apprenticeship in Beauty Therapy at Newcastle-under-Lyme College

Course description

During the apprenticeship you will study the NVQ Level 2 in Beauty Therapy. Units include Providing Facial Skincare Treatments, Eyebrow and Lashes, Waxing Services and other technical units including Health and Safety and Product Promotion. You will also study Level 2 Functional Skills in English and Maths and Employment Rights and Responsibilities.

Entry requirements

You must be employed in a salon and demonstrate good levels of communication and numeracy. Entry to this course is by interview enabling us to discuss your individual training and development needs.


You are continually assessed throughout your course by building a portfolio of your work, which contains your evidence of your competence in each area. Most assessments will be completed within the workplace.

Financial information

While you are on an apprenticeship your employer pays you a salary and supports you whilst you undertake your training.

Future opportunities

If you succesfully complete this apprenticeship we will then discuss with you and your employer the possibility of other qualifications available to you. This will depend upon not only your ability but the opportunity for your role with your employer to develop to a higher level.

On the apprenticeship programme you usually attend College one day a week and spend four days a week working with your employer.
