Creative Writing AS/A2 Level at Chichester High School for Boys
Creative writing is a distinct discipline in Higher Education.
It encourages the development of skills that are essential forfurther study and a range of professional careers. This Alevel enables aspiring writers to start on the path toprofessional practice and is suitable both for those who wishto study English related courses at university, and who mayalso be taking A level English Literature, and those who maybe studying Science,Maths or Humanities courses and wishto improve their creative, critical thinking andcommunication skills.
Unit 1:Writing on Demand
Unit 2:Exploring Creative Writing
A2 YEAR: This year consists of two units from reading to writing andexploring creative writing.
Unit 3:From Reading toWriting
Unit 4:Exploring CreativeWriting
5 GCSEs at grade C or above with a grade B in EnglishLanguage
AS YEAR: - Students will:
1. Produce a coursework portfolio of creative pieces fromtwo different genres and a reflective commentary.
2. Learn how to write in response to practical writingscenarios. This is assessed through an examination.
A2 YEAR -Students will:
1. Produce a writing portfolio of 4,000 words and areflective commentary of 2,000 words.
2. Complete an examination consisting of 2 pieces ofwriting in response to stimulus material.
