History B GCSE (EDEXCEL) at Ryburn Valley High School

Course description

There are two different GCSE courses to choose from; Modern World and Schools History Project. Modern World – This course studies some of the great events of the twentieth century and their effects on ordinary people. It is a varied course covering the history of Britain, Europe, America and Asia and the rest of the world in the twentieth century. This course consists of six main components.Schools History Project – There are four main sections in this course, which aim to give you an opportunity to investigate different aspects of History.Assessment for both courses – 2 examination papers (75%), coursework (25%).

Future opportunities

You could take this course to prepare for advanced level courses such as an A/AS Level in History or you may need to strengthen your grades by completing a foundation or intermediate vocational qualification.With further training, you could go into a job related to history such as a Teacher, Historian or Archaeologist.You could also go straight into employment and do further training or part time study with the support of your employer.
