The course for you if ...

You want to gain essential skills that will equip you for success in the Uniformed Services.

Course content

From map reading to team work and leadership, you will gain a variety of skills and hands-on experience that will prepare you for life in the Uniformed Services.

Other areas of study include drill and discipline, communication, fitness theory and development, and competitive team sports and activities.

Entry requirements

Minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grade D or above (with at least 1 at Grade C or above) as well as English Language and Maths at Grade C or above; or a pass at BTEC Level 1 Certificate; or equivalent along with Cs or above in English Language and Maths. You can progress from a relevant Level 1 qualification. You will need a reasonable level of fitness and a successful interview with members of the course team.

You will also need to demonstrate excellent teamwork skills and a total focus on completing the course.


You will produce a portfolio of work over the year consisting of work from unit workbooks and practical observations.

Future opportunities

You may progress onto the Level 3 course or take up a career in one of the armed or civilian Uniformed Services.
