This course is equal to 1 GCSE. It is a brand new subject and will cover topics not covered in key stage 3. It is suitable for pupils with excellent written English skills. There will be 2 exams and 1 piece of controlled assessment. Unit 1 exam- Setting up a business - this covers 40% of your marks and unit 2 exam growing as a business covers 35% of your marks. You could take this course to prepare for an NVQ Level 1 or 2 in a related subject and depending on your other qualifications, you could progress onto courses leading to the Advanced GCE in Business Studies or Applied Business Studies. With further training, you could go into a job related to business by working for a wide range of companies in areas of marketing, finance, human resources or public relations. You could also go straight into employment as the course is delivered through a work-based training programme, will help you develop the artistic skills, knowledge and understanding that lots of employers are looking for.
