Level 1 Diploma in Bricklaying at Bournville College

Course description

This course is aimed at school leavers or at those wishing to enter the construction industry for the first time. The Level 1 Award gives a good grounding in a chosen trade for those wishing to continue onto Level 2.

Course content

Safe working practices
Information, quantities and communicating with others
Building methods & construction technology
Basic blocklaying skills
Basic bricklaying skills
Basic cavity welling
Contribute to setting out and building basic masonry structures up to damp course level

Entry requirements

Students should have a reasonable level of English and maths, all applicants must successfully pass an aptitude test, an interview will assess your suitability and interest in the subject.

Assessment

Achievement of each module by internal testing undertaken by the trainer.
Synoptic practical assessment set by The Awarding Body for Construction and controlled by the trainer. Successful completion of the assignment will be needed before the qualification can be completed.
Online test covering the core modules and the occupational modules must be passed to achieve the qualification. The test will be independent assessment of knowledge and understanding. The test will be graded.

Future opportunities

You can progress onto the Construction Diploma in Trowel Occupations – Level 2.
