Course description

This is a compulsory short course GCSE subejc which aims to provide sutdnets with the knowledge, skills and understanding to beocme informed Citizens, aware of their rights, responsibiliteis and duties. It also tries to enable them to have an effective role in relation to thier local, national and international communities. Through this course students should become aware of human rights the importance of voting and the justice system, the role of the local and national government, the media, the rights and responsibilites of citizenship and othe rinternational and global issues. At the end of the two year course pupils undertake a written exam. During the course pupils are also expected to produce one piece of coursework, this will be based on a Citizenship Community activity that they will research, develop and undertake.
