Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production (Level 3) at Palmer's College

Course description

The BTEC Extended Diploma in Media Production will give you the opportunity to develop your understanding of all aspects of moving image, print and audio based media industries. It balances theory with media production. This is a popular and successful course to help you develop your skills, interests and ideas in all aspects of media as it links directly with working in the media.

Course content

You will study a broad range of subjects, such as: producing print based media, communication techniques, advertising production for television and radio, Understanding the TV and video studies, film and video editing techniques, marketing and PR, research techniques, production management project, music video production, working to a brief, film studies.

Entry requirements

Minimum of four Cs at GCSE or a full Level 2 Diploma in a related subject.

Assessment

The course combines written assignment work with creative production work.

Future opportunities

This course will give you the opportunity to progress to higher education and provides relevant and useful skills for many jobs in the media. It is recommended for anyone wishing to pursue a career in the media or creative industries such as journalism, advertising or TV and film production. Many past students have careers in all of these fields.

Whether or not you choose a career in the media industries, you will find the course enables you to develop a range of transferable skills recognised and valued by higher education institutions and employers alike. Universities like its distinctive blend of academic and practical skills. Many Palmer’s students go on to study Media at a range of good universities as well as related subjects such as journalism and film. Others find it a useful supporting subject for careers in games design.
