Year 1 AS Level

You must complete the following two units:

The core principles of Chemistry is taught in the Autumn term of the AS and comprises:

Formulae, equations and amounts of substance

Introductory organic chemistry.

Application of the core principles of Chemistry is taught in the Spring and Summer terms of the AS and comprises:

Shapes of molecules and ions

Redox

Year 2 A2 Level

General principles of Chemistry I — Rates, equilibria and further organic Chemistry is taught in the Autumn term of the A2 and comprises:

How fast? Rates

How far? Entropy

Spectroscopy and chromatography.

General principles of Chemistry II - Transition metals and organic nitrogen Chemistry is taught in the Spring and Summer terms of the A2 and comprises:

Redox and the chemistry of the transition metals

Organic chemistry - arenes, nitrogen compounds and synthesis.

Entry requirements

A grade B GCSE in Science is the minimum requirement plus a grade B in Mathematics.
