Computing AS/A2 at Tech City College

Course description

From banking to booking cinema tickets, downloads to dating, computers are now essential to almost every aspect of our everyday lives. Studying A-level Computing will give you a fundamental understanding of the core principles of computer science and enable you to grasp the basics of any programming language. Through studying specific examples, you will learn to write procedural programs using variables, arrays, sequences, selection, iteration and recursion. The A2 course also includes object-oriented programming.

Entry requirements

Five GCSEs at grade C or above, including a minimum grade B in Maths.


You will be assessed through written examination and coursework.

Future opportunities

A-level Computing gives you a strong advantage if you are intending to study physics, engineering, mathematics or computer science at university. It can also open doors to careers in areas such as engineering, finance and software development.
