Biology AS at Swinton Academy
The aim of this course is to develop essential knowledge and understanding of Biological concepts, Scientific methods used in this area of science and an awareness of recent advances in technology. This will be in the context of studying many organisms, their components, maintenance and interactions with each other and their environment.

· Practical skills in Biology
At least a B grade in Core and Additional Science or B grades in the Separate Sciences
The course is divided into two years (AS and A2), and completion of both leads to an ‘A’ level qualification. The AS course consists of two modules, which are assessed by written exams in June. Plus a practical module which is internally assessed and accounts for 20% of the AS.
There will be some cost to the course due to field trips, this may be refunded if student meet the bursary criteria.
