So your creativity isn’t just a way of satisfying your artistic soul, it can open the door to exciting career opportunities.
The Edexcel Photography course is structured in a way to help your creativity and design ideas flourish. It will present you with the opportunityto work technically and creatively in both traditional and digital photography.Traditional photography will develop your skills and knowledge in using35mm film cameras and the dark room. Digital photography will expandupon your camera skills and you will explore Photoshop and the diversetechniques you can achieve.You will work in a variety of settings including location and studio photography. Your explorations will form a body of work culminating in the presentation of final pieces in an exhibition.
The course is designed to develop you not only as an accomplished photographic practitioner,but also as a creative individual. Through developing contextual photographic references you will question your ideas which will helppush your own work even further. Situated within the Art and Designdepartment this course will offer you the opportunity to develop your independent thinking through practical studio time, working with practising artists, critical class discussions as well as visits to exhibitions.
Choosing an arts based course can complement your other subjectchoices: it can help develop your creativity and ideas not only within thisone subject area but also within your other subject choices. You alsodon’t have to restrict yourself to just one creative subject, Photographyworks well alongside Textiles and Art. This subject may be a passion youdon’t want to take any further but many students go on to developphotography skills which can lead to careers in the media as photographers,film makers and documenters.
You will need at least 5 GCSEs at grade C or above including English or Mathematics and have to meet the minimum entry requirements for each subject. Grade ‘C’ in an art related subject and English
