AS/A2 Economics at Queen Elizabeth School

Course description

It is often said that the economy depends about as much on economists as the weather does on weather forecasters and Economists are experts who will know tomorrow why the things he predicted yesterday didn't happen today. Harsh words maybe but the worst Economists are those who really think they know what is going to happen to the global economy whereas in reality the best Economists are those who know that they really don’t know what is going to happen.

Therefore the best Economists are those who are smart enough to know that they still have a lot to learn. Some might say Economists are like a cross-eyed javelin throwers who don't win many accuracy contests, but they keep the crowd's attention. You will learn how to keep the crowds attention with a fascinating array of knowledge and understanding.

We will teach you to become a good Economist and on the way you will gain an understanding of why you could line up all the Economists in the world and still not reach a conclusion because the solution to one economic problem can often become the source of another; but enough of the clichéd platitudes.
