Course description

This Level 1 Diploma is designed to engage students who enjoy the sector and wish to develop experience in a variety of motor industry sectors at a level suiting their ability.  This course is an ideal starting point for anyone seeking employment in the motor industry. 

This qualification has a predominately practical approach to assessment and includes many visual questioning techniques which will stimulate and interest the student. 

The qualification’s combination of units provides students with the flexibility in the choice of the areas they wish to develop their knowledge and skills in.

Entry requirements

  • No formal requirements for this qualification.
  • Selection criteria for entry should take into account existing academic/vocational qualifications, experience and interest in working in the industry sectors.

Financial information

Learners are expected to provide boots and overalls and basic writing materials. Details of such requirements will be given at interview.

Future opportunities

Students can progress to the retail motor vehicle industry and to a Level 2 Vocationally Related Qualification (VRQ), as well as the Institute of the Motor Industry Sector Skills Council Intermediate Apprenticeship at Level 2, or employment.

The College is also fortunate to have an active Student Union which hosts an annual ‘Freshers’ Fair’ for students at the beginning of the Autumn term and organises social events throughout the year.
