Children and Young People's Workforce (Care Early Years) Advanced Apprenticeship Level 3 at City College Plymouth

Course description

As an apprentice you will gain valuable experience and occupational competence within your workplace setting. You will be employed and your job role will include working with children and young people predominately within a pre-school, nursery, foundation stage environment working under the direction of a qualified childcare worker with children aged birth to five years. Most of your training/learning will take place within your workplace. On completion of the Apprenticeship you will have gained a range of qualifications which make-up the Apprenticeship framework giving you a good grounding for your career. 

Course content

Level 3 Certificate in Children and Young People's Workforce: You will need to achieve the full 53 credits from completing mandatory units and a selection of option units. The optional units will be decided in negotiation with your assessor based on your job role within your organisation. Units will include: •     health and safety •     team work •     planning and organising work •     safeguarding Functional Skills Level two in maths, English ICT, employee rights and responsibilities, personal learning and thinking skills. 

Entry requirements

Acceptance on this course will be determined through an interview via the Work-based Learning department and assessment carried out by the childcare team at the College. 


Certificate: continuous assessment both on and off-the-job to record your practical skills and knowledge. 

Future opportunities

Upon successful completion you may progress to higher level courses at the College.
