Hand Fitting, Machining, Maintenance of Pumps, Gearboxes and Compressors. These are just a few of the things that you will work with as a mechanical apprentice. A mechanical apprenticeship involves the installation and maintenance of a wide range of engineering plant equipment, it may also involve the manufacture of new components using machinery. Mechanical Craftspeople are highly skilled and can work in a wide variety of industries and sectors. They work with highly complex plant and equipment. They are involved in the manufacture of component parts for machines, the assembly and installation of machinery, as well as the maintenance of equipment. They must work with precision and accuracy, and have a logical and thorough approach to work. They also need to be able to read and interpret drawings and diagrams, diagnose and fault-find problems with machinery and equipment, as well as work cooperatively with other colleagues to ensure that work is carried out to a high level of quality.

Preferred results: GCSE Grades A-C in Mathematics, English and Science. Although employer requirements may vary. Successfully pass the Gen2 aptitude testing.
