HNC Diploma in Creative Media Production at King Edward VI College, Nuneaton

Course description

This highly practical course is aimed at those interested in filmmaking. The course encourages experimentation, creative development and technical skills. It includes all aspects of digital film making as well as an emphasis on the use of sound, lighting and editing. As part of the course students will be provided with their own classroom including I-Mac with industry standard software, such as Adobe Premier Pro. Students will also have access to a variety of industry standard hardware, such as Canon 5D Mark 2 SLR cameras, a variety of lenses, Go-Pro cameras, portable lighting equipment, microphones, tripods and gliders. The goal of the course is to increase our student's confidence, team work and independent learning skills to better prepare learners for higher education and employment within the creative industries. The course will also help develop a student portfolio, which can be shown to potential employers or other higher educational providers. The HNC comprises of 8 units, the majority of which are practical. Future opportunities

Students who complete the course either go into full time employment, go to university to complete their degree or other HE providers to complete a HND. Some of our students have gone straight into second year university degree courses, thus saving thousands of pounds in their journey to gain a full honours degree.

Mac suite for full-time HNC students. Cameras, Adobe Premier, Lighting and Sound studio for film and video production all readily available. Higher National Certificates contain real benefits for students financially. In June 2015, our higher education provision was inspected by the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) and concluded that there was a strong relationship between staff and students. QAA were also very positive about the innovative and industry relevant approach to presenting coursework. The QAA is the equivalent of OFSTED for higher education provision in the UK.
