Course description

This is a course for students with an interest in the subject, or who are interested in pursuing a career in the sciences, or a science based industry. In particular please note, that if you wish to study Medicine or Veterinary Science in the future, you MUST have studied A Level Chemistry.

Fundamentals of Chemistry (01)

110 marks; 41%

       Written paper – 2 hours 15 minutes

Scientific Literacy in Chemistry (02)

100 marks; 37%. 

Written paper – 2 hours 15 minutes

Practical Skills in Chemistry (03) 

60 marks; 22%

Written paper – 1 hour 30 minutes
 

Practical Endorsement in Chemistry (04) (non-exam assessment)

Future opportunities

This A Level Chemistry course will prepare learners for progression to undergraduate courses in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Medicine, Dentistry, Engineering, Pharmacy, or one of the other sciences or related subjects.

 

A Level qualifications are graded on the scale: A*, A, B, C, D, E, where A* is the highest.

 

For learners wishing to follow an apprenticeship route or those seeking direct entry into Chemical Science careers, this A level provides a strong background and progression pathway.
