Visual Communication BTEC Intermediate Diploma Level 2 at Fareham College

Course description

Students will explore a range of approaches to develop a variety of skills in visual communication, using traditional methods, such as drawing, painting, collage and print-making techniques, as well as the latest digital technology and the creative use of camera. We encourage creativity, broad visual investigation and the development of critical thinking and vocabulary to develop students’ creativity.

There will be the opportunity to take part in several trips throughout the year to visit local galleries and museums in London to enhance your learning and broaden your interpretation or visual communication.

Assessment is continuous with two externally graded units; the year ends with a final major project and exhibition.

Entry requirements

Five GCSEs at grade D or above to include English Language, maths and a creative subject. A portfolio of your artwork is required at interview.

Future opportunities

Completion of this course can lead to employment or progression to a Level 3 course in a creative subject such as Graphics or Photography, Art and Design or Fashion. Further study will be required to realise a career in photography or graphics.
