Hairdressing Level 2 Apprenticeship at Somerset College

Course description

Our Apprenticeship in Hairdressing gives you the opportunity to earn whilst you learn in a salon environment.

Entry requirements

Entrants to the Level 2 Apprenticeship require a good school report including Maths and English qualifications, as well as enthusiasm.


Assessment will take place both in the workplace and at College. A combination of assignments, online tests and questions will be used to confirm your knowledge and understanding. Practical assessments will form 
a large part of your Apprenticeship.

You will study Maths and English as well as Employer Rights & Responsibilities.

Future opportunities

You may wish to develop your skills further by taking a Level 3 Apprenticeship. Those that have completed the Level 3 can specialise in colouring, cutting or salon management and undertake further qualifications in these areas.

On successful completion of your Apprenticeship you could start your own business as a mobile hairdresser or work in a salon. The Level 3 Apprenticeship allows you to pursue many career opportunities including working on cruise liners.
