A Level History at St Bede's Catholic College

Course description

The Humanities Faculty offers the AQA History AS/A Level course.

Course content

The AS Level will consist of:

Unit 1 British History (Britain 1483-1529) This will be assessed in a 1 hour 15 minute examination and is worth 50% of the AS Level (25% of the A Level).

Unit 2 Historical Issues: Periods of Change (Life in Nazi Germany 1933-1945) This will be assessed in a 1 hour 30 minute examination and is worth 50% of the AS Level (25% of the A Level).

The A Level will consist of:

Unit 3 State and the People: Continuity and Change (The Triumph of Elizabeth: Britain 1547-1603) This will be assessed in a 1 hour 30 minute examination and is worth 30% of the A Level.

Unit 4 Historical Enquiry This consists of students studying an overview of the USA Civil Rights Movement and then focusing on a particular area for their independent research, before they write a 3,500 word essay. This is worth 20% of the A Level.
