Engineering and Technology - Mechanical Level 2 Diploma at Knowsley Community College

Course description

This qualification has been developed for those learners who required a level 2 engineering qualification to provide them with a broad base of engineering understanding and knowledge either as part of an Apprenticeship or as a stand-alone qualification. This qualification will also be recognised as a Technical Certificate within the SEMTA Apprenticeship framework. The programme offers the right candidate trips and visits to industry and related exhibitions and also work experience opportunities within the sector.

  • Producing components from sheet metal

Entry requirements

Minimum 4 Grade D, one of which must be English and / or Maths, or Pass / Merit in relevant L1 Vocational Qualification (Merit for BTEC courses), and working at Functional Skills L1 and/or Maths or IT as appropriate to the course.

Financial information

Safety boots and overalls are required for all practical sessions. An A4 folder with paper, pen and pencil are also required for all theory sessions.

Future opportunities

This qualification provides the opportunity to gain a broad foundation of skills and knowledge in the engineering sector and there is clear progression both to and from this qualification. Careers include Engineering Maintenance Technician and Mechanical Engineer.
