Graphic and Digital Design - BTEC Level 3 at Nova Centric Limited
Got a passion for graphic design, motion graphics or photography? This is the course for you. Giving you an all-round understanding of the design process, you’ll gain an advanced knowledge of design software packages InDesign and Photoshop and will understand branding and project management – skills that will put your firmly on the path towards a career in the design industry.
Term 1 - Design Principles and Page Layout
Working with key design programmes such as Illustrator and InDesign, you’ll develop an understanding of graphic design principles, research and copy-writing methods and understand how to develop a creative idea.
Term 2 - Motion Graphics and Pitching
In term 2, you’ll learn After Effects and produce a motion graphics sequence. You’ll further your skills in design by producing a creative CV, and study job roles and opportunities in the graphic and digital design industry. You’ll also learn pitching – helping prepare you for working in the industry.
Term 3 - Website Design and Photography
In term 3 you’ll learn how to use a DSLR camera and photographic techniques, then edit your photography in Photoshop. You’ll learn website design including HTML and CSS coding and produce a website that showcases all the work you have done in year 1.
Term 4 - 3D Techniques and Advertising
You’ll analyse audiences and responses to media products, focusing on design for advertising. You’ll implement this understanding creatively with Cinema 4D in which you’ll learn 3D Modelling and 3D Animation for to produce print and animation design products.
Term 5 - Branding and Typography
During term 5 you’ll study visual communication in logo design and branding, and be taught how to create your own typography. At this stage you’ll work independently, running an organised project with efficiency.
Term 6 - Working to a Brief
In your final term you’ll have the opportunity to specialise, developing advanced skills in a specific element of programme. You’ll work to a brief in which you devise, design and produce the best example of your work in your area of specialism. You’ll develop your project and production management skills – helping support you onto your next education step or towards employment.
- 5 GCSEs grade 9-4 (A*-C) including English and maths
- An appreciation of and passion for the subject with a level of practical experience and/or a Level 2 qualification in the subject area
