Fitness - Level 3 Extended Diploma at HARTPURY COLLEGE

Course description

If you’re looking for a career in the fitness industry – or hoping to progress onto a higher education sports degree, then this course provides an excellent foundation for your development towards your goals.

Course content

You will learn through a mix of theory based and practical sessions and will study 19 modules over the 2 year course, with a mixture of fitness, instructing and sports science based modules. In addition to this, you will also get the chance to work with and instruct “specific groups” which could include older adults or disability people. 

Your course will combine classroom study and practical sessions.  Your practical sessions will be fitness based with the majority of these taking place in our Cross Training Gym.

  • Sport as a Business
  • Organising Sports Events

Entry requirements

Five "C" Grades or above including English Language and either Maths or Science.

Satisfactory completion of the Diploma in Fitness (or completion of a level 2 fitness instructing award)

Financial information

Students under 19 on 31 August 2015 are free (full time courses only). Examination fees for main qualifications are also free.

Students aged 19 to 23 may need to pay tuition fees. We may be able to waive your fees if you are unemployed and receiving Jobseekers Allowance, studying your first full level 2 qualification or level 3 qualification. Please visit this page for more information.

Educational visits charge: An annual £65 fee is payable for all students and covers the cost of outside visits, special speakers and a contribution to the cost of administration.

Future opportunities

You will have a wide variety of progression opportunities on completion of this course. Careers in fitness instruction or as a personal trainer are natural options after this course.

Further information

In your first year, you will also have completed your YMCA Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing and this will allow you to progress onto your YMCA Level 2 in both Spin Instructing and Circuit Training qualifications in year two. You will also undertake Work Experience in Year two which has proved immensely beneficial in recent years, in gaining students paid fitness employ
