Creative Digital Media Production BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma at King George V College

Course description

A BTEC Subsidiary in Creative Digital Media Production will develop students industry related knowledge and skills.  You will study a range of general topics such as media representations and pre-production skills, as well as furthering your knowledge in specialist areas such as advertisement and stop motion animation production.

You will develop core skills including research, presentation and teamwork in addition to creative and technical skills such as the use of digital video cameras, video editing and desktop publishing software.

Students can progress on to a range of media related courses in the future including general media and film studies courses and courses specialising in areas such as Graphic Design, Advertising, Journalism and Animation.  Throughout the course, students will also learn the demands that are involved working as a freelancer and the necessary skills required to pursue this line of business.


Entry requirements

A strong student in this course would be expected to have both the self-motivation to work independently and the ability to work well in a team.  They should be creative and keen to learn new technical skills.  They should think critically about media products and have an understanding of varied media audiences.

Further information

Students will have the opportunity to visit media industry sites in London such as the British Film Institute, BBC Broadcasting House and Leavesden Studios (where the Harry Potter films were produced).

Throughout the year, the College welcomes a number of guest speakers from the media industry, including former students. We can also arrange student work placements in local media organisations.
