Product Design A Level at The Hazeley Academy

Course description

Product Design is driven by the innovation, creativity and the application of technology. The course aims to develop skills and ability in three-dimensional designing and manufacture. The knowledge and skills gained include the communication of ideas, ergonomics, designer influences, smart and modern materials and processes, and the production of prototypes and finished artifacts.

 

 

Entry requirements

Students should have a minimum grade of a B in any GCSE DT subject.

Assessment

Students will sit Product Design as an AS and an A2 with public exams at the end of both year 12 and 13.

Future opportunities

Product Design provides the basis for students to enter many courses in higher education; including design and innovation, architecture or graphic design.

Also industry is keen to recruit people who are capable of design thinking and providing innovative technological solutions to real world problems. The skills developed through this subject could provide the knowledge required for students that may choose to work freelance or set up their own companies to develop their idea into a business.
