What does the course involve? There are 2 options available: Level 3 Cambridge Technical Certificate in Health and Social Care: 1 year course, equivalent to an AS level Level 3 Cambridge Technical Extended Certificate in Health and Social Care: 2 year course, equivalent to an A2 level. The units of study for the technical certificate are • Building Positive Relationships in Health and Social Care (internally assessed) • Equality, Diversity and Rights in Health and Social Care (Examination) • Health, Safety and Security in Health and Social Care (Examination) The units of study for the Technical Extended Certificate are • Anatomy and Physiology for Health and Social Care (Examination) • Two Optional Units chosen from a list (the option will be chosen by staff, not individuals!)
The course is particularly suitable for people who have studied Health & Social Care GCSE or who have an interest in a career in the industry. This course is designed to enable a range of students to continue their study of Health & Social care beyond GCSE. It can be taken alongside other BTEC subjects or A-levels and is the equivalent of one A-level. In order to study AS Level Health and Social Care students should: • Have at least 4 GCSEs at grades 9-4, ideally to include English.

50% external assessment through examination
