Performing Arts (Dance) BTEC Level 3 Certificate/Extended Certificate (Edexcel) at Crawshaw Academy
This course will provide you with the opportunity, through applied learning, to develop the core specialist knowledge, skills and understanding required in the performing arts sector.
The course will enable you to gain an understnding of the performing arts sector, while exploring the work of theatre practitioners and creating work of your own. This is a practical course where you will work as an ensemble, open to acting, singing and dancing students. You will be provided with a theatre brief in which you will devise your own theatre. There is also a written element that supports the practical work that you do.
BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Performing Arts is the equivalent to 1 A level.
Units of study:
Unit 1: Prepare to work in the performing arts sector.
Unit 2: Proposal for a commissioning brief.
Unit 3: Influential performance practice.
Unit 4: Combined arts.
Entrants to the course must have achieved at least 5 x 9-4 at GCSE.
Assessment takes place in the form of majority of practical work, with elements of written coursework. Students will be given brief from which they will work towards practically and provide written evidence to support.
Students can go on to study a wide variety of academic and vocational courses in HE with this qualification, and/ or go into a wide variety of careers in which communication skills are important, for example Performing Arts, Business, Management, Media, Law and Education.
