Art and Design - Textiles BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma at Hull College Group

Course description

Ever thought of working for a design studio in London, Italy or New York creating printed patterns, knit, weave or embroidery for fashion or interior companies?

Do you want to set up a business as a designer maker selling your own unique, handmade products? If so, this could be the course for you.

This hands-on course encourages you to draw, design and make for fashion and interiors, wallpaper, giftwrap, illustration, craft and textile art.

We engage in Live Projects and competitions and we encourage you to sell your work, kick starting your business minds.

 

Course content

  • Drawing and Surface Pattern
  • Paint and Dye
  • Embroidery
  • Constructed Textiles (Knit and Weave)
  • CAD (Computer Aided Design)

All students will partake in all of the elements of the Study Programme which include:

  • Vocational Studies
  • English and Maths
  • Additional learning goals
  • Individual learner reviews
  • Work experience
  • Directed Personal Study

Additional vocational work will be set for students to work on in studios as Directed Personal study, outside of the above timetabled sessions.

*Dependant on previous qualifications, Maths and English are mandatory requirements for all students who have not achieved Grade C or above in GCSE.

Entry requirements

3 GCSEs at grade C or above, GCSE Art or Design would be a distinct advantage. Other relevant qualifications or work experience from mature students are welcomed.

Future opportunities

Students regularly progress to some of the best universities in the country and have gained some amazing internships and job opportunities e.g. Alexander McQueen and design studios in Dubai and Australia.

      We want you to enjoy your time at Hull College and to help you make the most of your study time and free time too. Students are able to take part in a wide range of social and recreational activities for our students to participate in when they are not studying, as well as discounts, competitions and give-aways. The College is also fortunate to have an active Student Union which hosts an annual ‘Freshers’ Fair’ for students at the beginning of the Autumn term and organises social events throughout the year.

      Hull College students benefit from some of the best facilities in the country – and that’s official! Our most recent Ofsted report stated that the College has “outstanding specialist facilities”.
